We hosted our Glassmaster Stained Glass Challenge events on 11th and 13th of September. Over two nights, thirty-one young adults competed to find information about our medieval parishioners and the history of the city, then used those clues to develop some incredibly detailed and stunning stained glass designs.
Our fabulous team of judges - Anna and Kathy from York Unlocked and Sister Anne from the Bar Convent Heritage Centre - considered both knowledge shown and artistic merit to decide the winners. As you can see, competition was strong and some truly beautiful and inspired designs produced!
Most importantly, everyone had lots of fun and there was a real buzz in the room. This event would not have been possible without the creativity and energy of our wonderful young volunteers - Alice Johnson, Amber Barras, Amber Lee, and Nora Besley - who designed the event and put in the hours to make sure it ran smoothly.
We are also extremely grateful to Heritage Open Days for giving us the chance to try something different - we hope everyone that attended enjoyed it as much as we did!
