All saints Church York

We have a thriving group of volunteers at All Saints and we are always grateful for the generous gifts of time and service from our volunteers. Our volunteers help with our regular community outreach, which takes the form of weekly coffee mornings, Sunday bell ringing and monthly craft sessions for children.

If you would like to help in any way, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please get in touch with one of the church wardens, Steve Aston, or Robert Richards, for an informal chat. Here are some of our volunteering opportunities:

Bell ringing

The bells at All Saints are rung every Sunday before Mass. Occasionally there are special services for which the bells are also rung. We welcome anyone who would like to learn to ring bells or already enjoys bell ringing.

Cleaning

If you like cleaning, the church is your oyster! There are lots of nooks and crannies both inside and outside All Saints. We would even let you bag your own corner for cleaning!

Coffee Mornings

Our Thursday Coffee Mornings are a time when members of the parish and local community get together over a hot drink and biscuits. Anyone visiting can also join in. All are welcome to drop in, sit and have a chat. We have a stalwart band of helpers who make and serve drinks, then wash and tidy up afterwards, all before mass at 12.30pm.

Flower arranging

We use flowers to enhance our worship at All Saints. We try to have a fresh arrangement for each Sunday throughout the year, except during Lent and Advent. We welcome any assistance with flower arranging or watering the arrangements.

Gardening

There are two gardens at All Saints, the church yard at the back and the front garden. Green fingers are not an essential requirement!

Tours

If you are interested in the history of the church, we welcome help with occasional tours. Sometimes these occur on a Thursday morning during Coffee morning. You will have the privilege of  learning about the church’s history from our very own historians, Dr Robert Richards and Fr Andrew Horsman.

Little Paws

On the first Saturday of every month, we have a morning children’s craft group which lasts one and a half hours. Children are welcome to attend with parents and siblings. There will be crafts to make and take home, and children are offered a drink and a biscuit. Volunteers are supervised by a member of the parish who has undergone a DBS check. Children are typically pre-school age, although siblings are also welcome.
